Adventure to Bow Lake and Wapta Icefield
Meltwater from the Wapta Icefield flows into Bow Lake. Glacial dust suspended in the water causes the milky blue color of the lake. It is a scene of bright contrasts: white snow, black mountains, green foliage, and deep blue water reflecting the sky. The three hour hike around Bow Lake and beyond terminates at the base of the waterfall cascading from the base of the Wapta Icefield. Falls and icefield are just visible in the background of this photo. See them?

The Manitou Cliff Dwellings
This tourist attraction near Colorado Springs is a preserve of the architecture of the Anasazi (ancestral Pueblo people). The Manitou cliff dwellings are about a thousand years old, and now are open to the public year round. Explore the dwellings, room by room, on a self-guided tour.
